Body overview MSI MPG Gungnir 110R

[ad_1]

After two years of presence in the PC case market, MSI is still very far from being a top seller. However, they have made significant progress in terms of the quality-to-price ratio of their chassis. New models have become better constructively, more balanced in terms of cost, began to show acceptable results in thermal tests. And such achievements are always rewarded with the “audience award”, in other words – the growth of profits and the interest of buyers in the brand.

In this review, we will consider the next iteration of the hull from the MPG Gungnir family under the designation 110R. Outwardly, it has some family features inherited from the Gungnir 100, but structurally it is a completely different chassis.

Appearance

The overall design concept of the MPG Gungnir 110R is once again built around the front fascia. And the front looks interesting. Visually, it is divided into two planes that converge at an angle in the center. As a result, a recess is formed around the left plane, where there is a small ventilation slot. This side is made of tinted glass, through which, as conceived by the creators, pre-installed fans with ARGB illumination will be visible. In the Gungnir 110M variant, there will be a mesh of plastic and metal. And the right side has a metal finish with an engraved logo at the top. The triangular inserts at the bottom and top are ventilated, as well as on the side faces of the front end there are five small ventilation grilles, so everything is not perfect with the access of air inside, but relatively good.

External ports and buttons are placed on the front of the flat top panel. If we list from left to right, we will see a large square system start key, a small reset button, an even smaller square of a white power indicator, an oval USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, two regular black USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two 3, 5mm audio jack for microphone and headphone and square backlight switch button.

The left side panel is all glass, held on by two metal knurled screws at the back, and has a handle for easy removal. It is removed and placed easily, like a regular door.

The tempered glass is 4mm thick and lightly tinted. On the sides, metal holders are glued, with which the panel is fixed to the body, and soft gaskets are glued on the bottom and top, insulating the glass from contact with the metal and improving its acoustic characteristics in the direction of noise reduction.

The right door is solid and metal. It is held on by two metal knurled screws and has a stamped handle for easy disassembly.

On the inside of the door, the stiffening ribs on the edges are bent by a kind of bucket, which makes it very resistant to bending. Instead of the usual hooks on the front, three screws and clamping tabs are used, which are held by recesses in the case frame, ensuring a perfect fit for the part.

The top panel is predominantly occupied by a massive honeycomb metal grill covered with a magnetic mesh dust filter. Mounting holes for two 120- or 140-mm fans are shifted towards the left panel to improve compatibility with CBO radiators.

The rear panel is designed in full accordance with the ATX standard. The ventilation grill supports the installation of a 120 mm fan without the possibility of adjusting its height. The seven PCI expansion slots are covered with well-ventilated reusable plugs. The mounting hole to the right of them is covered by a protruding pad, which is held on by two ordinary screws. The seat of the power supply allows you to orient it exclusively with the fan down.

On the base of the case there are two large legs in the form of triangular pedestals. The rear leg, although it has holes, half closes the ventilation of the power supply. The dust filter on it is mesh and metal, it is inconvenient to remove it. The front leg covers part of the screw fasteners of the storage basket. If you want to move it, you will have to first unscrew this pad.

The height of the legs is 35 mm. They have rubber stickers on the bottom. On the bottom of the front panel there is a hole for removing it.
