Case review Lian Li O11 Dynamic

[ad_1]

The O11 case series is a landmark for Lian Li at the moment. This is the crown of their engineering evolution, developed with the participation of the famous German enthusiast Der8auer (Roman Hartung). Chassis are built with ease of assembly and access to components in mind, ease of liquid-cooled configurations, decent interior space and good looks. Specifically, a modification of the PC-O11 Dynamic in black came to our review.

Packing and scope of delivery

The case is sold at retail in an ordinary monochrome box, on which there is practically no technical information about the contents. There is an image of the chassis assembly on the front side, and its disassembled diagram on the back of the package. There are cut-out handles on the sides for carrying. Soft polypropylene dampeners on both sides, a bag and double-sided stickers on both glass panels provide protection against damage during transportation.

  • an insert with gratitude for the purchase and a call to post a photo of the assembled PC on social networks;
  • rubber adhesive stand for the power supply;
  • 12 wide-head screws for hard drives;
  • 17 small screws for the motherboard and 2.5″ drives;

Appearance

The design of Lian Li O11 Dynamic is similar to a glass and metal cabinet designed to display jewelry. Smooth edges without protrusions, rectangular shapes, 0.8 mm steel of the main frame and panels. From aluminum luxury on the front of the chassis, only a vertical strip on the right remained, in the upper part of which external ports and buttons are built. But most of the front is occupied by a removable glass panel.

In the upper right corner of the front panel is a rectangular PC start button, around which LEDs for system power and drive activity are built in around the perimeter. Below are two USB 3.0 ports, two 3.5mm headphone and microphone jacks, and a balanced USB 3.1 Type-C port.

The front glass panel is easily removed in the upward direction, held on two hooks from the bottom and top, where the metal strips are glued. There are soft stickers on the sides to isolate noise, vibrations and protect against scratches. Tempered glass is 4mm thick and lightly tinted.

The left side is also completely glass. The same 4 mm thickness and slightly less transparent tinting than the front.

On the reverse side, everything is arranged as in the case of the front glass. However, there are already six hooks, there are soft stickers at the top and bottom, and metal strips are glued on the sides. The sidewall is removed by simply sliding up.

The right side panel is metal, smooth and solid. It has two ventilation grilles in the front and rear, made in the form of many narrow vertical slots.

On the reverse side there are U-shaped stiffening ribs located along all edges of the panel. The door is removed in the upward direction, rests on two hooks from the bottom, one on the sides and three on top. On the reverse side of the ventilation grilles, metal grids of dust filters are held on magnetic strips.

The principle of disassembling the case is simple and elegant. The top metal panel is the only classic door of its kind. If it is removed, then the right side door, front and side glass simply slide out of their grooves in an upward direction and the chassis is open on all sides.

The left side of the top panel is covered with long ventilation grill slots. It is removed towards the rear, held on by two knurled screws at the rear, and has a stamped handle for easy removal.

There are no stiffening ribs on the reverse side of the upper door, however, they are not really needed for it, because this part does not perform a bearing function. On the other hand, it “walks” a little and can resonate if vibrations appear on the frame.

The upper part of the body frame has a large air vent on the left with seats for three 120mm or two 140mm propellers. All this is closed by another dust filter in the form of a metal mesh with magnetic stripes on the sides.

When looking at the rear panel of the case, it becomes obvious that it is divided inside into two vertical chambers. On the side of the motherboard there is a narrow ventilation grill with no way to fix the propeller there. And at the bottom there are eight PCI expansion slots, closed with reusable ventilated plugs. On the left side, behind the motherboard tray, there are two slots for the power supply, both with the fan oriented towards the side panel. The bottom hole is open.

And the top seat of the PSU is covered with a removable plate with holes, which is held on a hook and one thumb screw. Behind it is a removable basket with a sliding slide for two 3.5″ drives.

Two long plastic legs with rubber dampers are screwed to the bottom panel, front and back. Their height is 27 mm.

On the left side of the bottom panel there is a ventilation grill covered with a magnetic filter in the form of a metal mesh.

Let’s look at the internal structure of the case.
