We return to the “Games against video cards” section to compare the top models in the top action games of recent months. In this comparison, we will evaluate the capabilities of the older NVIDIA and AMD models at high resolutions. This is not a detailed analysis of specific video cards, but a study of performance in several games, which will serve as a supplement to other reviews.
The list includes four of the most striking action games of recent months:
- Outriders
- Resident Evil Village
- Days Gone
- Necromunda: Hired Gun
Test participants
Six video cards are involved in testing:
- GeForce RTX 3090 24GB;
- GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB;
- GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8GB;
- GeForce RTX 3070 8GB;
- GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB;
- Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB.
The GeForce RTX 3090 series is represented by ASUS TUF-RTX3090-O24G-GAMING.
Prescription GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Preview ASUS ROG-STRIX-RTX3080TI-O12G-GAMING.
Prescription GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Preview ASUS ROG-STRIX-RTX3070TI-O8G-GAMING.
The rest of the video cards are reference models. All of them were brought to standard frequencies in order to assess the potential of conventional video cards without factory overclocking.
Full specifications are given in the table.

Test Methodology
Outriders
Co-op shooter from People Can Fly and Square Enix, released in April 2021. This is a dark game with tense shootouts in a fantastic setting. Made on the Unreal Engine 4 and supports DirectX 11.

The tests were carried out in the demo version. There was a minute run with shooting at the “Slaughterhouse” level, several repetitions. Maximum graphics quality.
The episode differs from the test scene from our recent comparison, the overall performance level is lower here.
Resident Evil Village
The long-awaited continuation of the Resident Evil series. The main character finds himself in a gothic village with mutant monsters, trying to save his daughter. The game is based on the RE Engine and uses DirectX 12. Excellent detailed picture, there are effects using ray tracing.

The first walk around the village was repeated.
Selected maximum graphics quality without tracing and maximum settings with additional activation of high-level tracing.
Days Gone
A ported version of one of the exclusive PlayStation 4 projects. A game about a biker who confronts hordes of dangerous zombies. Pleases with nice landscapes and design. Uses Unreal Engine 4 and runs in DirectX 11 environment.

Several repetitions of the initial chase.
Maximum graphics settings.
Necromunda: Hired Gun
A new game from Streum On Studio, the authors of the co-op shooter Space Hulk: Deathwing. We play as a bounty hunter in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The fast-paced gameplay is reminiscent of DOOM. The picture pleases with a gloomy style and rich effects. The game supports DirectX 11 and DirectX 12.

The opening scene for the first mission was repeated.
Tests were carried out in two APIs to determine the optimal mode. At 4K, NVIDIA graphics cards are tested with DLSS.
Five test modes:
- 2560×1440, graphics Ultra, DirectX 11
- 2560×1440, graphics Ultra, DirectX 12
- 3840×2160, graphics Ultra, DirectX 11
- 3840×2160, graphics Ultra, DirectX 12
- 3840×2160, graphics Ultra, DLSS Quality, DirectX 11
