The GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card is currently the youngest member of the Ampere family, combining the benefits of a new architecture with a more affordable price. Although, in the current shortage, it is difficult to talk about price positioning, since the cost of all video cards is prohibitively high. Earlier we reviewed the GeForce RTX 3060 by ASUS, now let’s look at the top-end version from INNO3D.

We got a model from the iChill line, which implies powerful large-sized cooling with several fans. The video card is delivered in a large box.
The dimensions of the GeForce RTX 3060 iChill X3 Red are really big. The length is 30 cm, the width is 13.5 cm, and the cooling takes up three slots.
The device is distinguished by a design characteristic of the series with many metal overlays on the body. This “armor” gives a menacing look, and there is a visual continuity with the old models. The fans feature iChill logos and a stylized snowflake.
The reverse side is covered with a metal plate. There are large slots on the side to reduce the resistance to air flow created by the fans.
In the corner of the PCB there is one eight-pin power connector.
The side face is covered with a metal plate with the inscription GeForce and a large black panel with an illuminated logo.
The name of the video card INNO3D GeForce RTX 3060 iChill X3 Red hints at the red backlight. And this bright backlight is a moot point, since GeForce is not associated with red in any way.
Also on the side, you can install an additional transparent “wing” with the X3 logo or a “wing” without a logo. By default, these elements are not screwed, so as not to create difficulties when installing a large-sized video card, but they are included in the kit.
Now let’s look at the cooling system. Parsing begins with the dismantling of the backplate. This is not a radiator, but a reinforcing plate, which stiffens the structure and protects the textolite.
INNO3D uses a single heatsink for all elements. For contact with memory chips and power elements, there are corresponding sites.
Implemented direct contact of heat pipes with a graphics chip. Four tubes completely cover the area of the crystal, but the quality of fitting the tubes to each other is not ideal, as is the quality of the polishing of the base. Irregularities and grooves between the tubes are compensated by thermal paste. Around this zone there is a plate for cooling the memory chips.
The rough processing of the base and the presence of four heat pipes are not critical for a video card with a moderate TDP. At the same time, the radiator is extremely large in size. The side sections are made of thin plates, in the center there is a solid aluminum block with thick ribs. All this is blown by three fans with an impeller diameter of 85 mm.

The PCB looks simpler than the ASUS ROG-STRIX-RTX3060-O12G-GAMING.
The graphics processor is powered by six phases, the memory is powered by two.
Full marking of the processor GA106-300-A1. 12 gigabytes of memory is made up of six Samsung K4ZAF325BM-HC16 chips.
The graphics card is factory overclocked. With a base core frequency of 1320 MHz, the average Boost Clock has been increased from 1777 to 1837 MHz. The effective memory frequency is 15000 MHz. Power is limited to a standard value of 170 watts.

The real Boost frequencies were kept within 1927-1980 MHz. In most games, this is 1972–1980 MHz (below in the screenshot is Horizon Zero Dawn), in the most difficult tests it is closer to 1930–1950 MHz (below in the screenshot is the 3DMark Time Spy stress test). Peak value Boost 1995 MHz.
When tested in an open case, the GPU temperature did not exceed 64 ° C (indoors 21-22 ° C). The maximum fan speed did not exceed 1300 rpm.
With such powerful cooling, even in adverse operating conditions, the video card will remain quiet and cool.
Overclocking was done with MSI Afterburner. The power limit is locked to an increase, which is inherent in the entire GeForce RTX 3060 series. This did not prevent the core frequency from being raised by 170 MHz with a working Boost of about 2100 MHz, the memory was able to operate at a frequency of 16700 MHz.
In many games, GPU frequencies exceeded 2100 MHz, in rare applications and in the 3DMark Time Spy stress test, there were drops to 2077-2100 MHz. The peak value was 2175 MHz. When fixing the fans at 1400 rpm, we managed to keep the heating at the initial level.
