NVIDIA recently launched the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card on the market, which has the performance of the GeForce RTX 3090 at a more affordable price. This model can be called the optimal flagship solution from NVIDIA. But as part of our review of the ASUS ROG-STRIX-RTX3080TI-O12G-GAMING, we noted the high heat dissipation and power consumption of the new product. Now let’s get acquainted with a more balanced version of ASUS TUF Gaming.

The video card comes in a standard ASUS TUF box. Comes with instructions and product card.
Visually, the video card does not differ from other ASUS TUF models. Made in a recognizable strict design. Cooled by a cooler with three fans.
ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is two centimeters shorter than ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti – total length is 30 cm, width is less than 13 cm. And even the height is slightly less – 52 mm.
The reverse side of the video card is covered with a metal backplate.
The cooler protrudes above the board, in an empty place there are large slots in the plate so as not to interfere with the air flow inside the case. In the corner there are two eight-pin power connectors. Near the connectors is a BIOS switch to select a productive or quiet fan mode (Performance and Quiet).
TUF video cards have a more modest illumination compared to the ROG Strix series – instead of a large side strip with RGB backlighting, a small window with a logo.
There are five ports on the rear panel for displaying images: three DisplayPort and two HDMI.
The cooler is identical to the ASUS TUF-RTX3080-O10G-GAMING cooling system. This is a heatsink with six heat pipes and two fin sections.
MaxContact technology provides a perfectly flat base surface for a snug fit to the graphics chip. The heat pipes are flattened at the base for tight contact with the plate and with each other.
Also, the main radiator has a contact pad for heat removal from the elements of the supply circuit.
Three fans with a unique Axial-tech design blow over the radiator. The special shape of the blades and the outer ring enhance the generated air flow. The impeller diameter is 90 mm.
There is a separate radiator with a heat pipe and three sections of plates. It covers the memory chips and half of the power elements. This separate cooling system is used by all GeForce RTX of the ASUS TUF line.
The backplate is part of the overall cooling system. There are thermal pads on the inside surface of the plate for contact with hot spots under the memory chips and for contact with capacitors on this side of the board.
The board design is identical to the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080/3090 PCB.
The board has 20 power phases. The graphics processor is powered by 16 phases.
Full marking of the processor GA102-225-A1. It has a built-in Ethereum mining performance limiter that reduces the hashrate by half.
Soldered memory chips GDDR6X Micron D8BWW.
The graphics card is factory overclocked. With a base core frequency of 1365 MHz, the average Boost Clock has been increased from 1665 to 1755 MHz. The effective memory frequency is 19000 MHz. The BIOS lists 350W of power, which is the recommended level for the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.

Tests were carried out in an open case at 26°C indoors. By default, the video card works in Performance mode. In games, this mode provides the GPU temperature in the region of 65 ° C at fan speeds of 2000-2150 rpm. Real Boost frequencies are above 1800 MHz. In Horizon Zero Dawn it is 1860-1890 MHz. In the 3DMark Time Spy stress test, it is closer to 1800 MHz with rare drops up to 1770 MHz.
The graphics card is slightly hotter and noisier than the ASUS TUF-RTX3080-O10G-GAMING, but cooler and quieter than the ASUS ROG-STRIX-RTX3080TI-O12G-GAMING. The difference with the ROG Strix seems obvious when you consider that the older model has a power of 400W and higher Boost firmware, although the actual frequencies differ slightly.
The temperature of the hottest point of the Hot Spot crystal was up to 74°C, the memory was heated up to 86°C.
When switching to Silent mode, the fan speed in heavy gaming tests did not exceed 1630 rpm at GPU temperatures up to 73°C.
The temperature of the Hot Spot sensor reached 81°C, the memory temperature reached 92°C.
Overclocking potential is lower than ASUS ROG Strix. The core frequency was raised by 140 MHz – up to 1505 MHz at the base level. The final memory frequency was 20500 MHz.
Real GPU frequencies rose to the level of 1900-1980 MHz, in the heavy 3DMark stress test closer to 1900 MHz (with rare drawdowns up to 1875 MHz). Peak Boost increased from 1995 to 2145 MHz, but such values were practically not recorded in the load. At fan speeds of 90% (less than 2600 rpm), operating temperatures are at the initial level.
