The cardboard box in which the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition is delivered has significant dimensions, but is not equipped with a carrying handle. The package received an unusually restrained design for a Republic of Gamers product, the silhouette of the Eva-01 combat “mech” can be seen on a gray and black matte background, the inscription ROG X EVANGELION PROJECT is placed in the center, and the name of the model is indicated along the bottom edge.
The back of the box contains information about the capabilities of the wireless router, among which it is worth noting support for the Wi-Fi 6 high-speed data transfer standard, the presence of two 2.5G Ethernet ports and the AiProtection Pro system, which provides commercial-level protection against network threats. After all, the novelty is equipped with AURA RGB LED lighting and a number of functions to accelerate and manage the priority of game traffic, which we will talk about later.
As for the set of accessories, despite ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition belonging to the Republic of Gamers family, their list does not impress the imagination. In addition to the device itself, the buyer will receive:

Separately, let’s focus on the AcBel ADH011 power supply unit, which is designed to work in alternating current networks with a voltage from 100 to 240 V and a frequency of 50 or 60 Hz.
The adapter provides an output voltage of 19.5 V with a current of 2.31 A, which allows you to provide 45 W of power to the consumer. However, the maximum recorded power consumption of the wireless router “from the socket” during testing did not exceed 15 W, while the device required about 9 W when there was no load.
Design
The appearance of the ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition is significantly different from any ASUS wireless router that has previously visited our test lab. The body of the device has a rectangular shape with beveled corners, on which there are protrusions that perform the functions of supports and serve as the basis for attaching external antennas. The weight of the product reaches 1121 g, and the dimensions are 350x205x60 mm, excluding the height of the antennas in the working position. The antennas themselves are about 20 cm long each, they are equipped with SMA connectors and hinges that allow you to tilt the antenna housings up to 45° from the vertical and rotate them freely around the connector.
There are two modifications of ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000, which differ in color and design of the case. The “regular” versions have a black body, while the “EVA Edition” can boast a purple color with bright green inserts, reminiscent of the color scheme of the Eva-01 biomechanical combat machine. From the right front corner of the top cover diagonally there is a row of ventilation holes that form the ROG inscription, and on the right side of the case you can see the Republic of Gamers logo. During operation, the logo is illuminated from the middle, and the color and effects are controlled by the AURA RGB function from the control menu. In addition to the logo, bright green inserts in the upper part of the antennas received illumination.
Along the front edge of the top cover are seven LEDs that indicate power, 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi module activity, and the status of the WAN ports, LAN 2.5G Ethernet, and a group of four ports for connecting LAN clients. as well as WPS functions. On the front panel, on the right side, there is an LED key, which can be pressed to select the AURA RGB modes or completely turn off the illumination, and on the left is the WPS button, which is responsible for activating the Wi-Fi Protected Setup function for quickly connecting clients to wireless networks.
The right and left sides of the case do not contain any functional elements, while the back panel found a place for two USB 2.0 and 3.2 Gen 1 connectors, respectively, and four RJ45 type LAN sockets with Gigabit Ethernet support. In addition, ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition is equipped with two 2.5G Ethernet ports, one of which can be used to connect to an Internet service provider, and the second can be used to connect modern high-speed local network clients. In the right part of the back panel there is a Reset button, a power button and a connector for an external power supply.
The lower cover has a large number of ventilation holes, in the center there is a plastic sticker with official information and a pair of holes for attaching the device to the wall. On the corners of the case there are protrusions with orange rubber pads. These protrusions raise the case to a height of 5-7 mm above the surface level, which provides access to fresh air for improved cooling. Thanks to this and the apparently successful design of the radiators, the temperature of the internal components was kept around the 55-60 °C mark, depending on the load level.
As for the internal structure, it was not possible to gain access to the inside of the wireless router, because one of the screws that fastens the halves of the case is under a plastic sticker with official information, and it was impossible to unscrew it without damaging the product appearance of the device. According to this report, the novelty is built on the basis of SoC Broadcom BCM4912, which consists of four computing cores with 64-bit ARM v8 architecture, operating at a frequency of 2000 MHz. This “system-on-a-chip” can be considered as the successor of the BCM49408 SoC used in older models of ASUS wireless routers such as the RT-AX86U or RT-AX88U. From its predecessor, the BCM4912 SoC differs not only in a frequency increased by 200 MHz, but also in support for DDR4 RAM, an additional PCIe interface and updated blocks for accelerated processing of network packets and encryption. In addition, the BCM4912 offers support for the high-speed USXGMII bus, two USB ports and one 2.5G Ethernet interface in addition to a built-in four-channel Gigabit Ethernet switch. Using the USXGMII bus, a Broadcom BCM50991E physical level adapter is connected to the system-on-a-chip, which serves as one of the two 2.5G Ethernet ports, and a pair of Broadcom BCM6715 controllers are responsible for the operation of wireless networks, which ensure the operation of Wi-Fi 6 at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Among the features of the radio modules, it should be noted the support of a signal with a band of 160 MHz, OFDMA technology and MIMO multiple access according to the 4T4R formula. The use of two BCM6715 provides the novelty with transmission speed in wireless networks according to the IEEE802.11ax standard at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the level of 1148 Mbit/s and 4804 Mbit/s, respectively, which allows ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 EVA Edition to be included in the AX6000 class .
