Spring is not only the time of the awakening of nature, but also an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the novelties of the world of information technology. And for the 13th year in a row, the consumer electronics exhibition CEE (Consumer Electronics Exhibition) helps the residents of Ukraine and its guests with this. This is, without exaggeration, the largest event of this kind in our country, which includes demonstrations of new high-tech products, services of companies operating in the market of system integration, consumer electronics and appliances, as well as environmentally friendly transport and, of course, gaming products, in including your favorite video games. CEE 2019 hosted the exhibition complex located in Kyiv at the address. Mezhigorskaya 82.
The peculiarity of the event this year was its holding in two stages: the first, which took place on April 5–7 and which we briefly talked about in the corresponding publication, was aimed at a professional audience, it brought together many leading Ukrainian companies operating in the IT market on one platform. services, while at the second stage on April 12-14 the exhibition opened its doors to fans of computer games. Among other things, the participants and organizers delighted the guests with numerous competitions, master classes and performances by artists, and the audience was entertained by interesting characters, such as, for example, such an astronaut wandering near the exposition of MakeFuture, a company that distributes accessories for mobile phones.
But, of course, the stands of such giants of the computer industry as Micro-Star International, a vendor known for motherboards, video cards and laptops, became the highlight of the program.
At the exhibition, MSI brought new models of gaming peripherals for our market, such as the Vigor GK60 keyboard, Clutch GM50 gaming mouse and MPG Gungnir 100 case.
The gaming laptop booth featured the top-end MSI GT75VR Titan, as well as the entry-level gaming laptops GF63 and GP63 Leopard.
Here it should be noted that MSI is actively exploring new markets, for example, trying itself as a manufacturer of gaming monitors such as Optix MAG341CQ.
The real “highlight” of the exposition was the system unit based on the MSI MEG X399 Creation motherboard, equipped with a 24-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX processor, 128 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX1080Ti video card. All this was enclosed in an exclusive transparent case, equipped with a productive water cooling system.
Next in line is the stand of Acer, famous for its laptops and system units. Thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian representative office, visitors to the exhibition could personally get acquainted with new models of universal laptops from the Swift and Aspire lines, as well as TravelMate, aimed at business people.
Acer gaming models are separated into separate Nitro and Predator lines. The latter was represented by modifications Triton 500 and Triton 900, which can handle any of the most demanding modern games!
The company can hardly be called a newcomer among monitor manufacturers, so the appearance of gaming models in the assortment is quite expected. Many models were presented at the exhibition, including the Acer Predator Z35, a 35-inch widescreen display with a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels.
HP’s exposition was divided into two parts: one showcased gaming models, brought into a separate sub-brand Omen, and the second – products for corporate and home use.
Among the interesting novelties, one cannot fail to note the Pavilion Gaming 15 line of budget gaming laptops, which offer a sufficient level of performance in most modern projects at a very attractive price, as well as the latest 6th generation Probook models designed for corporate users.
Lenovo’s booth, which occupies a considerable area in the central part of the main pavilion, abounded with novelties from the Legion gaming family of laptops and system blocks, which were actively tested “in combat conditions” by numerous guests of the exhibition.
At the same time, Lenovo is famous for developing the ThinkPad line – legendary business laptops, renowned for their high quality and unrivaled ergonomics. As proof, representatives of the company placed their “laptops” in conditions that are far from ideal, so that no one doubts their reliability.
The exposition of Lenovo was also remembered for its installation with a call to “go beyond” and a very nice DJ girl who played “records” with dance music.
On this positive note, we move on to the next exhibitor – Gigabyte, which has a strong position in the market for computer motherboards and graphics accelerators. In the spirit of the times, a separate Aorus brand was created by the manufacturer for models of the upper price range, aimed at ultimate players.
It is impossible not to note the steps of this Taiwanese vendor in the field of gaming peripherals, and the gaming table presented at the exhibition, fully equipped with Aorus products, was the best example. The ergonomic chair AGC300 looks interesting, where you can spend many hours playing your favorite game without experiencing discomfort in the body.
The booth of the Polish company Dream Machine deserved a special mention as it relied exclusively on goods for gamers. Among the products it should be noted a line of powerful gaming laptops based on the Clevo chassis, as well as very successful gaming controllers of the DM1 and DM2 series.
Of course, such an event as CEE 2019 could not pass without the participation of ASUSTek, one of the largest players in the computer components and laptops market. The company was one of the first to bet on the development of products for gamers, introducing the Republic of Gamers sub-brand more than 10 years ago.
Since then, the line of gaming products has covered almost every possible category: from gaming peripherals and “laptops” to network equipment and a wide variety of components for personal computers. And, to be fair, Republic of Gamers products are consistently a hit with consumers due to their excellent price-to-performance ratio.
An example is the ROG Strix XG49VQ gaming monitor, which has an innovative 32:9 aspect ratio. Its 49″ curved screen at 3840×1080 resolution provides the player with a unique experience in a variety of genres.
The ROG Strix SCAR II and ROG Zephyrus S models, equipped with the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards, pleased the eyes of lovers of powerful gaming laptops, and for fans of the classic desktops, Artline prepared an extreme Overlord RTX X99 configuration based on a Core i9-9900X processor paired with ASUS TUF X299 MARK 2 motherboard.
In addition, at the Republic of Gamers booth, guests of the exhibition could get acquainted with the latest models of motherboards, graphics accelerators, liquid cooling systems and much more. ASUS Blue Cave AC2600 class Wi-Fi routers with the ability to integrate into Smart Home control systems and ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 with support for the latest 802.11ax standard deserve special attention, as well as a power supply unit for powerful gaming systems ROG-THOR-1200P, equipped with OLED display for real-time power consumption monitoring and Aura Sync RGB lighting.
Kingston, one of the oldest manufacturers of storage devices, has also taken the path of active development of the line of gaming products under the HyperX brand.
At the exhibition, the company presented the latest models of gaming keyboards, manipulators and headsets, as well as a very rare product – a microphone for voiceover of online broadcasts.
However, not all vendors have joined the fight in the market of goods for gamers. For example, Genius, which once held one of the leading positions, has gradually shifted into the segment of office and universal home solutions. That, however, does not prevent this supplier from selling their inexpensive, but very high-quality products in large quantities.
Another “titan of the industry” – the manufacturer of cases and power supplies Chieftec has once again shown that he is not going to give up under the onslaught of daring newcomers. As proof of this, Scorpion models flaunted on the stand, as well as new items from the Chieftronic sub-brand, oriented (suddenly!) To computer game lovers.
ASRock exhibited a wide range of motherboards, including the flagship Fatal1ty X399 Professional Gaming for AMD Threadripper processors, and Phantom Gaming graphics accelerators based on AMD Radeon chips. The company plans to enter the SSD market in the near future, so we wish ASRock good luck, as consumers always benefit from competition!
Among manufacturers of network equipment, I remember the stand of Tp-link, which built a real “iron throne” of routers. Jokes aside, and this manufacturer cannot but be praised for the widest range, although sometimes the abundance of revisions of the same model causes inconvenience when choosing even for experienced users.
Not a single modern electronics exhibition can do without environmentally friendly transport, and although Tesla Motors did not honor CEE 2019 with its presence (which, we are sure, they bitterly regret), the Ukrainian BMW dealer presented two models to the public – the BMW i3s compact urban electric car, and also the BMW i8 hybrid sports car. The former has a range of around 250 km, while the latter boasts a hybrid powertrain that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds while consuming just 3.76 l/100 km.
And for those who find it inappropriate to buy an electric car, Segway-Ninebot has offered a wide range of personal electric vehicles: hoverboards, electric scooters and even mini-karts. By the way, everyone could personally experience the beauty of environmentally friendly transportation, for this a small test track was organized outside the pavilion.
Representatives of such promising areas as 3D printing were also at the exhibition. There is no point in denying that this technology is the future, including in the field of medicine and biotechnology, although there are already prototypes of printers that “print” residential buildings.
Unmanned aerial vehicles were presented by PowerVision products. Their “drone” PowerEgg not only offers enviable performance, but also has an original design, reminiscent of alien spaceships from a science fiction movie.
In a word, there were a lot of interesting things for the “technologists” at the CEE 2019 exhibition, and for those who came to relax and unwind, many stands with games were deployed, where various competitions were held and it was possible to chat with like-minded people.
For fans of online battles, exhibition partners ASUS and Artline set up a special zone equipped with the most modern computers, where exhibition guests could spend time playing their favorite game in the company of friends.
But the real event was the holding of the all-Ukrainian championship World of tanks, in which the strongest players from all over the country took part. The technology partner of the tournament was Lenovo, and everyone could compete in the speed of reaction right in the exhibition hall.
In addition to accuracy, fans of “tanks” could participate in various competitions for ingenuity and knowledge of the gameplay.
Well, the culmination was the final of the championship, where the teams “Ottavio” and “-KORM2” met in battle. The guests and participants of the competition were supported by pretty “tankers”. However, cute girls are a signature feature of Wargaming booths.
In addition to World of Tanks, the exhibition included Fortnite competitions, CS:GO team tournaments, the winners of which received valuable prizes, and all participants had a lot of fun.
CEE 2019 turned out to be such an interesting and eventful exhibition, which was remembered not only for the abundance of technical innovations, but also for the opportunity to try most of these new products in action. It is gratifying that events of such magnitude are taking place in our country, where guests can immerse themselves in the world of high technologies and at least briefly touch the exciting world of the future. We must pay tribute to the organizers, who did their best, turning the buildings of the former production into hospitable pavilions. Well, it remains for us to remember the pleasant moments and wait for the next year, which will bring even more new technologies and fresh ideas to CEE 2020!
