In the first part of the most anticipated games of 2020, there were mainly projects that have a more or less exact release date. The second part contains games that are simpler in scale, but not in the expectations of the fans. There are also AAA releases here, but not everything is so simple with them. Some of the games were on our last year’s list, but the releases were postponed to this year, and the premiere dates of some new products remain a mystery. But gamers, like us, are looking forward to 2020.
Elden Ring

The mysterious Elden Ring is created by Japanese developers from FromSoftware, led by Hidetaka Miyazaki. This studio is considered the ancestor of “butt-sick” games (series of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice) and even acquired follower companies, and with them clone projects.
Oddly enough, but these very hardcore entertainments also have a lot of fans, so many masochistic players from all over the world are waiting for the future novelty. In the case of Elden Ring, fans of George Martin also joined them – this venerable writer was invited to develop the game’s world and lore.
The few scarce details about Elden Ring say that there will be plenty of weapons, magic, gadgets, and skill combos. Boss battles of an unprecedented level are expected, which means this component will become even harder than usual. Where it is more difficult is not clear, because for the majority of gamers who want relaxation and pleasure from games, the current projects of the Japanese seem impenetrable. Also reported on the classic open world and the largest map in the history of the studio.
Elden Ring is expected in 2020, but the exact date is not yet known. The game will appear on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Possible release on next generation consoles.
Iron Harvest

On September 1, 2020, the German studio KING Art is preparing to release an unusual dieselpunk RTS Iron Harvest, which takes place in an alternative universe of the early 20th century. After the end of the First World War, many robots remain on the battlefields of Europe, but a new danger threatens the world, so the abandoned equipment is returned to service and sent to the enemy.
Iron Harvest will have three factions and an impressive story campaign of 20 missions and a separate story for each side, dozens of units each and nine special playable characters – the local version of the heroes. Like any self-respecting RTS, Iron Harvest will add multiplayer. And the creators praise the ability to customize the interface to the individual wishes of gamers.
There have been few high-quality RTS releases lately, so Iron Harvest deserves attention. We hope that the developers of The Dwarves and The Book of Unwritten Tales will get something worthy.
King’s Bounty II

1C Entertainment decided to revive the cult turn-based strategy King’s Bounty and announced the development of the second part. The continuation of the fantasy role-playing game will tell about a new threat that is advancing on the lands of Antara. Many kingdoms are already afflicted with Bane – it infects people and turns them into monsters. The survivors flee to the kingdom of Nostria, where the combined forces led by three heroes will fight back.
In King’s Bounty II, the creators promise a non-linear story with ethical dilemmas and familiar turn-based battles, which are diversified with new features. In the new part of the battle will take place on maps with three-dimensional terrain and obstacles. According to the developers, this will add a variety of battle tactics and give gamers new opportunities for sophisticated attacks.
The changes will also affect the number of fighters on the map. There will be no classic display of one troop type figure with numbers at the top or bottom – King’s Bounty II will show the actual number of units in each troop in battles. Judging by the video, this decision will make local battles more epic. The graphics are also pleasing – bright and branded, and most importantly, modern.
King’s Bounty II is expected to release in 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but no exact date has been announced.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps

We expected Ori and the Will of the Wisps in 2019 as well, so the game got into the second part of the most anticipated games of last year. Now it’s clear that they didn’t wait, but the developers from Moon Studios finally announced the exact release date of the game – March 11, 2020. The release will take place on PC and Xbox One.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a continuation of the incredibly beautiful Ori and the Blind Forest metroidvania from 2015. In the new part, the protagonist Ori will go beyond the forest of Nibel, where the events of the first game took place, and go in search of a destiny.
The creators promise to refine the simple combat from the same place: there will be three slots for weapons, where the gamer can install an expanded arsenal (sword, hammer, bow, throwables, bombs, etc.). The player will need to memorize the weak points of the enemy, and when Ori attacks, correctly press the desired key combinations.
Ori’s skills also diversify. In Ori and the Will of the Wisps, the hero will not only jump and strike, but will also be able to heal himself, apply a grappling hook, burrow into the sand and improve available skills.
System Shock Remake

The original System Shock came out in 1994. A quarter of a century later, we are waiting for her remake. Developers from Nightdive Studios undertook its creation, enlisting the support of gamers and raising money on Kickstarter. Some people from the first team are involved in updating and ennobling the project, but they will not transfer the entire gameplay of the original game – some are outdated and others are tired, so the remake will update not only graphics, but also map layouts, mechanics, as well as gameplay, by making System Shock not just modern in terms of visuals, but playable and exciting for a new generation of gamers.
But they promise to almost not touch the plot, but they hired the legendary Chris Avellone, who will finalize some parts of the script and dialogues. We trust him.
And yet, after four years of development, System Shock Remake doesn’t have a firm release date. True, the creators swear that this will happen in 2020 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Watch Dogs: Legion

In 2020, a new Ubisoft game is also due to be released – a continuation of the popular Watch Dogs series. The third part was subtitled Legion and tells the story of a new team of hackers and the city of London, which is massively controlled by a brutal government.
The main feature of Watch Dogs: Legion is the ability to control any resident of the city. In theory, the player is able to move into each NPC and own his body before any adverse event (death, arrest, capture, etc.). Then it is allowed to take control of another resident, and so on ad infinitum. And to make the resettlement more fun, the creators added unique skills to each of the NPCs that will be useful to the player during the passage: some know how to hack equipment, others shine in battle, others are seasoned drivers and masters of hiding from the police.
The epic idea described above strikes the imagination and the possibilities available to the gamer. But everything is still only in theory and according to the promises of the creators, but how Ubisoft will bring this to life is not yet clear. Judging by the latest games of the company, they are doing well with ideas, but there are big problems with the implementation. Therefore, Watch Dogs: Legion is perhaps the most controversial project on this list.
The game does not have an exact release date. We only know that it will be released in 2020 on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Google Stadia.
Little Nightmares II

Stylish and kind platformer with elements of quest and horror Little Nightmares in 2017 surprised gamers and gathered a huge army of fans around it. Two years later, at Gamescom 2019, the Swedes from Tarsier Studios reported on the work on the second part, but said very little.
It is known that Little Nightmares II will be released in 2020 on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The girl with the name of the Sixth, like the Womb, we will no longer see. In the future game, a new hero will appear, who will fall into the same strange and atmospheric, but completely different place.
Little Nightmares II will be much larger and longer than the first part. They also promise an abundance of locations, opponents, riddles and puzzles.
Game producer Lucas Russell, who spoke to the press, told the main feature that guides the creators of Little Nightmares II. They have collected the most frequent claims and wishes of the fans and are now implementing them in the new game, trying to remove everything that they did not like initially.
Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima is another one that made the list of the most anticipated games of 2019. Little has changed since then, but now the developers from Sucker Punch Studios (the creators of Infamous: Second Son) have at least announced the approximate release date – summer 2020.
Everything else is the same as before. Ghost of Tsushima is an atmospheric adventure action game set in the world of medieval Japan. The plot tells about the hero Jin Sakai, who is trying to resist the Mongols who have captured his country.
Don’t expect hardcore assholes on the ticks of Sekiro, Nioh and other Souls games from Ghost of Tsushima. From them, the novelty will take the entourage of Ancient Japan, its myths and legends, but otherwise we expect a much simpler, but no less bright and exciting project.
Ghost of Tsushima will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and possibly PS5 as well.
Halo Infinite

Not much is known about Halo Infinite, which was announced back in 2018. Moreover, the creators from the legendary studio 343 Industries did not even show a gameplay trailer, limiting themselves to a story video at E3 2019.
It is known that the action of the first-person shooter Halo Infinite will take place immediately after the events of Halo 5: Guardians. On the Ring, where mankind has lost the previous battle, the Master Chief must again lead the people behind him and to new victories. And according to rumors from the players who delved into the trailer in detail, Cortana will appear in the future part.
The release of Halo Infinite is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020. The continuation of the legendary shooter is expected on PC, Xbox One and the new generation of the Xbox Series X console. Perhaps the release of the game is specially tailored to the premiere of the fresh Microsoft console.
Twin Mirror

Another game of the list, which was in the same last year’s material. A year has passed, and Twin Mirror from Dontnod Entertainment (the creators of Remember Me, Life is Strange and Vampyr) still does not have an exact release date, but they promise to manage it before the end of 2020. We are talking about the first of the three planned episodes, and when the other two will come out, one should not even guess yet.
Twin Mirror is conceived as a psychological thriller with elements of mysticism and detective story. The game resembles a mixture of Alan Wake, the Twin Peaks series and Stephen King novels, but the gameplay is close to Life is Strange – an interactive adventure movie with a minimum of activities, but maximum immersion in what is happening.

According to the plot of the game, the protagonist Sam comes to his hometown for the funeral of a friend. A couple of days later, he wakes up covered in blood and realizes he doesn’t remember anything about the last day, whose blood it is, or what he did.
As always, we assume that we missed some of the games that you are waiting for. Therefore, write about them in the comments and share your personal expectations, doubts and hopes.
